Links for Children & Teens

The following links will take you to websites on the Internet. These sites are not part of the Kent Public Library webpage, and therefore the Kent Public Library has no control over their content.

The web sites on this page were selected based on recommendations and on the following guidelines suggested by the American Library Association:

*The purpose and content are clear. A source is identified and contact information is provided.
*The content encourages exploration and thinking.
*The sites take advantage of the possibilites of the web, do more than can be done with print, and contribute something unique or unusual.

Parents should examine the web sites their children visit and should monitor them for racial, gender, and other biases they feel are inappropriate.

Health Information Project
Links to materials available in print, video and electronic formats that address issues of concern to young people ages 20 and under, to their families, to educators and to agencies serving youth. Selected books, videos and websites are available in Spanish. From the Mid Hudson Library System.

These are animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of
reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by taking existing picture books (from children's book publishers such as Scholastic, Chronicle Books, Candlewick Press, Charlesbridge Press, Harcourt, Little Brown, Walker and Company and others) adding animation, sound, music and narration to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you.
There are also books in Spanish.
