INTERLIBRARY LOAN

MISSION

The function of the Kent Public Library is to provide the people of its community, from pre-school through maturity, with access to a balanced collection of books and other materials which will serve their educational, cultural and recreational needs.


APPLY FOR A LIBRARY CARD

Anyone who is a resident of the Town of Kent may receive a library card.  Come in to the Library, present some form of identification to prove that you are a resident, fill out an application card, and receive your card the same day.  The "Fastcard" is acceptable in any library within the Mid-Hudson region.

CIRCULATION

All books (except some new or holiday titles), audiocassettes, magazines, and puppets are available for a three-week loan period.  All videocassettes are available for four days.

FINES

Fines for all materials except videocassettes are 10 cents per day with a maximum fine of $2.00 per item.  Fines for videocassettes are $1.00 per day with a maximum fine of $10.00 per video.

RENEWALS

Materials not reserved for another patron may be renewed one time only.

RESERVES

A patron may reserve any piece of material in the library collection (except reference).  Fill out a form at the circulation desk, and a call will be made to your telephone when the item has returned to the library.  It will be held for three working days after the phone call is made.

INTERNET POLICY

The Internet is a global electronic network not governed by an entity and so, its available resources may contain material of a controversial or mature nature.  The Kent Library does not censor and has no control over the information accessed through the Internet, and cannot be held responsible for its content.  Library users are responsible for the access points they reach and should be aware that all sources on the Internet do not provide accurate, complete or current information.  Therefore, users need to question the validity of the information.  Also, parents or legal guardians of minor children must assume responsibility for the children's use of the Internet through the Library's connection, not the Library or its staff. 

  • Computer time will be limited to 20 minutes when others are waiting.
  • Children under 6 must be supervised by an adult
  • To protect our equipment, only diskettes purchased and stored at the library may be used.
  • Material copied must comply with copyright laws.
  • Misuse of the Internet will result in the loss of computer privileges.  Sending, receiving, or displaying text or graphics which may be construed as obscene is prohibited.
